Hannah was cleaning up the mess hall.
It seemed a bit demeaning for someone of her rank, yes, but she'd volunteered to do it. She just needed to get her mind off of things, and work like this was usually enough to do it. Seeing Alex had just... stirred up way too many emotions in her.
The woman frowned and bit her lip, running her wet, sudsy rag over the surface of a table and hoping one of the mercs didn't come in and see her. Mercenaries were assholes half the time, and the guys were usually womanizers. She didn't like having to hire them, but Tyrelinn had reminded her a million times: if it weren't for mercs, they'd be even more severely outnumbered then they already were.

Jet roamed through the compound, extremely bored. Since he'd started serving the Almaut, he hadn't exactly done a hell of a lot. So he had a lot of free time on his hands, and besides keeping up his skills Jet had began to spend time wandering and trying to find random people to talk to.
<Where the hell am I?> he chuckled to himself, having found himself lost in a sea of hallways. Deciding to test the big double doors opposite to him, he pushed one of the doors open to reveal the mess hall. "Hey, it's the food place!" he laughed. Looking around, he spotted a woman cleaning up the tables on the other end of the room. <Hard working, a good trait in people. Probably a good person to talk to,> Jet thought as he strolled over to where she was.
"Hey there!" Jet said brightly. "Watcha doin cooped up in a place like this? Birds need to be free, ya know?" He laughed at his own analogy and extended a hand. "Name's Jet Proyhas to the ko, nice to meet ya," he smiled.

"Hey there! Watcha doin cooped up in a place like this? Birds need to be free, ya know?"
Hannah cocked a brow, looking up to eye the man who had entered the Mess Hall. He seemed a bit... childish, but she couldn't help but give him a small smile. "Well, everyone's gotta do their fair share of chores." The woman chuckled.
"Name's Jet Proyhas to the ko, nice to meet ya."
"Hannah Wolfblood, second in command." She held out her free hand to shake, but felt a pang of pain shoot through her. Proyhasko? There was no way he was related, was there? It wasn't a very common name, but she was sure if he had been related to... well, she didn't know of any of his relatives besides an aunt and controller parents. So, yeah... coincidence.
The woman gave him a grin. "What're you doing near the Mess Hall? Next meal isn't for a few hours."

Jet shook Hannah's hand, very surprised. <I know those in power often do things to get publicity like David helping kids in school, but... wow, this is honestly true good,> he thought happily. He already liked this woman, and he hadn't known her for more than a minute.
Jet laughed when she asked why he was in the hall. "Now, I could tell you I wanted to get an early seat, but in all honesty I kinda got lost in the building. There's so many HALLWAYS in here! I mean, buildings have lots of hallways but not usually so MANY and they don't have so many DOORS!" he exclaimed.
"Anyways, I could ask ya the same thing. Seconds in command don't usually spend there time cleaning tables," he smiled. "Although I can tell you're not doing it to look good in front of others; something I admire in a leader, good old honest goodness."

Hannah couldn't help but laugh when he talked about how many hallways and doors the Almaut had. It was true; the place could be a bit ridiculous to navigate, especially if you were new or relatively new to the compound. And the way he said it was just... funny. Her grin widened.
"Anyways, I could ask ya the same thing. Seconds in command don't usually spend there time cleaning tables. Although I can tell you're not doing it to look good in front of others; something I admire in a leader, good old honest goodness."
The woman blushed slightly. "Thanks," she murmured, looking down at her work for a moment. "Like I said before, we all gotta chip in, y'know?" Hannah gave a small smile this time, contemplative. This guy seemed nice; a good friend to have around.

Jet smiled when Hannah responded. He could tell by the way she acted that she was genuine, a rare quality these days with all the backstabbing. <For once, there's someone leading with at least some good qualities. Unlike Mr I'm-so-perfect-all-hail-David over there,> he smirked.
"I must agree with you on that one," he smiled. "It seems too often that people don't want to work for what they want, or help out for a good cause. Or maybe they just steal it from someone else without realizing it..." Jet trailed off and let the sentence hang for a moment, lost in the memories of that day
"Anyways, mind if I help ya with that?" Jet said, snapping back to the present. "I ain't got much to do anyways. I mean, sitting in your quarters staring at the wonderfully decorated wallpaper CAN be interesting, but I think the amazement is wearing off," he concluded, laughing.

Hannah chuckled, nodding. "The rags are over there in that bowl; they're already soaked, so you don't have to worry about that. But if you'd rather sweep, brooms and dustpans are in the supply closet, which is over there." She pointed everything out to him as she said them, gave him a small smile, then went back to wiping down her table.
Still, he'd given her fresh thoughts, thoughts she didn't want to have, and she couldn't seem to get rid of them. Cleaning wasn't helping erase her mind of Alex any more. The woman held back a shudder, biting her lip slightly.

Jet chuckled and commented, "I'll head for the brooms. I think ya got yourself covered in the wiping department. 'Sides, didn't that Roman guy say something about dividin and conquering? Damn, what's his name.... Napoleon Caesar? I can't remember. But yeah, I'll get those brooms!"
Jet took off, sprinting to the closet. "And in record time Jet reaches the closet!" he announced in a commentator like voice. Opening the door, he exclaimed "But what's this? The broom is in plain sight, but the dustpan is hiding! Losing valuble time, Jet scrounges for the dust pan. And there it is! He's closing the door and sprinting back!"
Dashing back with broom and pan in hand, he skidded to a stop in front of Hannah. "And he's done it!" he exclaimed happily. Laughing, he bent over and began to sweep crumbs in. "So, do ya spend a lot of time in here cleaning, or is this a fluctuating occurence?"

"And he's done it!"
Hannah laughed at Jet's, well... spazzyness. Well, now she had something to get her mind off of things again.
"So, do ya spend a lot of time in here cleaning, or is this a fluctuating occurence?"
Or not. The woman shrugged, frowning slightly. "Well, that depends, really. I mean, lately I've been sorta... stressed. Cleaning helps get my mind off of things." She chuckled. "Pretty stupid, huh?"

"Nah, definitely not stupid!" Jet replied. "When something takes all the shit that life throws at ya off your mind and lets ya forget, it's definitely something you wanna do more often, y'know? Personally, I think flyin is something that's the equivalent to that. And I just find that hilarious; obviously my parents knew what they were doin when they named moi," he concluded, chuckling.
"Besides, when you don't do what lets you unwind, what's the point in life?" Jet added. "The best thing you can do for yourself is to enjoy what you can, ignore the shit you hate, and do something you find worthwhile. But that's just me, and most think I'm a little cukoo anyways," he laughed.

Hannah chuckled. "No, that's actually... a pretty good philosophy to live by." She smiled at Jet, mulling it all over. It really was something you could live by, and live happily by; if only it was so easy to do.
It probably was, for him. He seemed like a happy person.
"Y'know, I'm curious," she said after a moment or two of silence. "What's your job here? I haven't seen you around before, and I'm usually familiar with... well, everyone's face, at least, if not their names." She chuckled. "I sorta suck at names."

Jet chuckled at her question. "Well, for starters I'm kinda new to these parts. That's probably why you haven't seen me before. 'Cause I always make an impression, and usually not as good as the one I think I'm making for myself," he laughed.
"Anyways, I recently joined you resistance people after... Well, let's say after some 'special circumstances'," he said. "So Tyrelinn and I had a chat and I'm currently slotted to work as a mercenary on some nice little Brotherhood assassionation plans." Jet winked and said, "Let's just say I got a bone to pick with them anyways..."

Hannah raised a brow. A merc? Now that he mentioned it, he did act quite a lot like a merc. All... free-spirited and that sort of thing. He didn't seem to have the other side to him, though; that crazy, psychopathic, almost murderous sort of gleam in his eye. He didn't seem like an assassin.
"Let's just say I got a bone to pick with them anyways..."
She laughed, at that. "Don't we all, in some way?" she asked, chuckling. "Even the people who aren't in our little group... So, who's the guy you've got it in for? Or is it girl? I've met a couple of the bitches that were in the rat's old Antimorphs group. That Kylie... ugh. I swear, I woulda stabbed that girl if I hadn't sworn off of stabbing." She said it jokingly, but deep down she meant it. The woman had to suppress a shudder at the thought of her old ways.

Jet looked around, just to check that no one was listening. Then he moved close to Hannah and said quietly, "I don't usually say this to people, but you being second and all have a right to know; and besides, you're the nicest person Ive met all day." He paused, then continued, "Well, if my last name wasn't a tip off, Im Alex's older bro. Y'know, that Alex."
"Y'see, before little perfect Alex came into the picture, I was an only child in an abusive house. My father drank, and I mean drank. My mother was never around either, so he beat me a lot," Jet broke off momentarily, then continued " One day it was so bad, he nearly killed me. So to cover it up, he dumped me, supposedly dead, in a forest and I never saw either of them again."
"But, y'know, everything was still okay because I got adopted by a nice elderly couple. That is, until Alex and the Brotherhood killed them in that massacre of opponents all those years ago..." Jet stopped talking, and hung his head in regret. "I'll never forgive myself for not stopping them from going..."

"...Alex?"
Hannah tried her very best and hardest not to squeak.
Well, she tried.
She covered her mouth so as not to risk a repeat performance, then nodded to him, frowning. So, this guy... he was related to Alex. His brother. The woman swallowed, looking down at the floor. God, how was she gonna weasel her way out of this? She didn't want to have to explain her slight horror at the fact that Alex was mentioned.
Well, more then mentioned. He played a huge part.
Maybe... maybe it was that bit of her that still didn't want to think of Alex as bad. The rest of her screamed at that part, but apparently it was strong, because it was winning out much more then rage.
"I'm... I'm sorry, dude," she said, finally, voice barely getting over a whisper. She felt like everything inside her was ripping at the seams.
