There was a tall, distinctive looking form moving accross the uninhabited expanse, searching for the rumored resistors. She had been a leader, a guide to her people, but now they were scattered, those who were still living anyway. David wanted her on his side, but she still lived by the creed that her people had followed since before she was born.
"Free or die!"
The base itself was highly secret of course, and they'd have to find her rather than her locating them. She kept to the forests and mountains, constantly watching for pursuers while she searched for help, the group she knew she could join with to fight. They would recognize her form, she knew that, it was just a matter of reaching the area they were in and being found.
For now, she could only keep moving and watching. Toby stripped off a piece of bark and chewed it her long snakelike neck scanning and looking as she did.

Chamberlain moved forward, following the tracks of the hork-bajir. He had been following it for days, after it had come to close to the hidden base for comfort. It seemed to have no goal, just wandering, which worried him. He caught up tot he hrok-bajir as it was feeding.
He moved forward, finally deciding to find out why the hork-bajir was here. He slid closer to the hork-bajir staying in the shadows, and called out "Who are you and why are you here?"

"Please, don't be afraid. My name is Toby Hamee. I want to join with you" she replied. "My people are scattered, and many have died. My only hope for for helping them...for rebuilding the colony or even simply helping the survivors is to join with the resistance and fight."
Melanie had moved up to join Chamberlain, still human but on alert in case she had to morph. It wasn't like the old days, when most hork-bajir were controllers, but it was hard to tell what side they might be on these days. Sadly, their lack of intelligence made them easy to persuade sometimes.
But this one wasn't talking like a typical member of her species. She was articulate and intelligent.
"I know that you see now that I am different. I led my people through the war, and became their voice among the humans after the war was over. But now this government has turned on them, and I must fight again, for those who remain,at least as long as I am strong enough to."
"I remember you, somewhat. You fought with the Animorphs, when the colony lived in the valley. I was one of the Auxillaries." Melanie spoke up.
"Yes" Toby nodded.
"They call her a seer" Mel explained. "From what I picked up, the Arn made a slight mistake and once in a while, a Hork Bajir comes along who is nearly as intelligent as they were. To lead them in times of change or crisis or something like that, that's their legend."

"Ahh" Chamberlain said, listening both to Toby and Mel. He then looked at Mel "I trust everyone here, if you are willing to vouch for her then we can take her back, but I ask you, are you sure she is with us??"

"Yes, I'm sure" Mel replied. "No way she'd ever join with David." She was understanding as to why no chances could be taken, and at the same time, glad he was willing to trust the two of them. She knew that Toby could be a great help; she was a strong thinker, unlike most of her kind, and a good leader besides being a great warrior.

"Alright then" Joshua said, not doubting Mel for an instant, as he had learned long ago that every one of his men could be trusted through hell and high water "Unfortunately, we will still have to watch you for three days, in case you were infested" Chamberlain said to Toby
"We will try to treat you as well as possible, but please know that anyone can be infested " Chamberlain said to Toby" we have already tracked you for several days, but we cannot know if you had portable kandrona, so we are going to have to wait for the full three days just in case."

"Yes, I understand. You cannot be too careful these days. It is a small price to pay for me to be able to do what I can to help.' She knew that a yeerk could be anyone, and that all had to pass through the three day wait, whatever species they may be. Hork bajir in particular, since at one point they were all controllers.
Mel knew as well, having passed through it herself. Of course it would be a lot harder to restrain a strong creature like this than a human, but Chamberlain would figure it out somehow.
"I agree, it's not always comfortable, but well worth it if it means joining the fight" she said.

"Alright then.. we will have to take you to Echo caves" Chamberlain said "they are about 3 hours walk from here. If you will follow Corporeal Ramirez over there" chamberlain nodded to the soldier in question "we will be on our way. Just know that if you try anything you will be shot" he emphasized the word will "no offense, but once again, we cannot take any chances."

She followed, turning her head first to see the corporal, then moving her body to get behind him as asked. "I understand" she replied after Chamberlain had finished. There was no way she would try anything, but of course they had no way of knowing that. These were harsh times, and nothing could be left up to chance. She could not leave anything up to chance herself. Her only regret was that her warriors could not be here to assist as well. Her people were not as intelligent as she, but they would fight to the death for their freedom.
