Jae looked up at him, tears rolling down her cheeks as he asked if she had a bad dream. She nodded a little. <I-I saw them dying again.> She watched as he picked up a morphing cube and she looked over at him, interested. She looked down at the cube. <No... I was going to get morphing in a few days.> She reached out and touched the cube, jumping a little as she felt a tingle run up her arm and through her body.

Tyrelinn nodded. <I too had dreams like that,> he said solemnly. He smiled when she touched the cube. He then put it back in its place and returned to her, saying, <I have something else for you. I'll be right back.> He winked at her with his stalk eye before turning to leave. Moments later, a black timberwolf returned, a fighting rabbit held gently in it's jaws. Setting it down on the ground, the wolf placed it's paw on the rabbit to keep it from leaving as he demorphed.
Once fully Andalite again, Tyrelinn picked up the frightened animal, holding it out to Jae. He smiled. <Your first morph,> he said softly.

Jae watched as he left and stared as the wolf returned and demorphed into her father. She looked down at the terrified little creature in his hands and reached out, gently taking it from him. She held it close and stroked its fur gently, focusing on it. The rabbit calmed after a moment and she smiled as she felt the acquiring process taking place. She looked over at Tyrel, smiling. She leaned over and let the rabbit go, watching as it scampered away. She closed her eyes and focused. She slowly started to morph, her tail shrinking and retracting into a small fluffy tail. Her stalks were next, sinking into her head as her ears moved up and grew longer, giving her a bit of a comical appearance. She quickly shifted and shrank, her torso shrinking into her body and her hands joined with her front legs. She was soon completely changed into the rabbit. She opened her eyes as her nose started to twitch, taking in the scents. She felt fear welling up at the scent of the wolf, but she quelled the fear easily, knowing it had just been her father. She looked up at Tyrel and she hopped over to him. She reared up on her hind feet, looking up at him. <Thank you daddy.> She giggled and hopped a few feet away from him, then morphed back to her natural form. She looked down at her side and giggled again, then looked up at him and pulled him into a hug.

Tyreninn watched as she morphed the rabbit and hopped towards him. He chuckled when she stood up on her hind feet.
<Thank you daddy.>
Tyrelinn was surprised at first, but couldn't stop the smile that was now shining in his eyes. When she demorphed and hugged him, he hugged her back. <You're welcome,> he said gently, feeling a rush of joy come over him.

She closed her eyes as he held her close. She sighed a little and looked up at him. <I can't stop seeing them. I can't get it out of my mind. How can I get it out of my mind?> She leaned into him, wanting an answer to her question more than anything. She hated having these images in her mind. She hated having watched her parents die. She wanted to forget, to be happy with her new father.

Tyrelinn pulled her closer, saddened by her question. He still, on rare occasion, saw his own father's death in his mind. But, he did tell her the truth. <Jae, you just have to give it time, and it will get better. Trust me.>

She lay her head on his chest, whining a bit. <I miss them so much. Why did the Yeerks have to kill them?> She closed her eyes, trembling as she leaned into him. <Why are the Yeerks so mean?> She closed her eyes as she leaned into him.

Tyrelinn held her, looking down into her eyes. <I don't know, Baby Girl. That's just how they were raised. And it's very natural to miss those you love. But you don't have to worry about the Yeerks here.> Tyrelinn left his last sentence at that. He wasn't ready to explain David or the Brotherhood to her. He wasn't sure if he would EVER be ready...

She looked down a little and closed her eyes. She leaned into him and stroked his cheek a little. <You can keep me safe. I know you can.> She closed her eyes, liking the nickname he'd given he. She curled up beside him, her tail tucked beneath her where her blade wouldn't hurt her again. She'd never had a nightmare that severe before, so she'd never had any need to tuck her blade away. She sighed a little as she slipped back into sleep.

Tyrelinn stroked Jae's cheek a little as well, smiling. <Oh, I might be getting old, but I can keep you safe,> he chuckled. He wrapped his arms around her as she went to sleep. <While you're in my care, nothing will happen to you....> Then, he too went to sleep.

She slept rather well for most of the night, shifting a bit now and then when she had a bad dream, but she calmed when she felt his arms around her. She was safe with him, this she knew for a fact. The next morning, she was up early and she started wandering around the area, exploring her new home. She stared up at a little robin and reached out slowly. The bird watched her for a moment, then hopped down on her finger. She giggled a little and she acquired the bird, wanting to know what it was like to fly. She stroked its feathers gently and walked back to the scoop with it held gently and calmly in her hands. <Daddy look!>

Tyrelinn was sleeping soundly, but felt when Jae left. He thought she was probably just going to explore for a bit, and would be okay, but he still kept his ears and his stalk eye open, just in case. He opened his main eyes and smiled when she came back into the scoop, a robin perching on her finger.
<Daddy look!> he chuckled a little, still getting used to being called "daddy.'
<Looks like that little robin likes you,> he said softly, standing up slowly so as not to startle the bird. <Did you just get it to come to you? How did you catch it?> he asked, impressed at how the little bird didn't seem to be afraid of her.

Her eyes smiled brightly as he seemed impressed. She looked down at the bird and it chirped a little. She stroked its breast and it closed its eyes. <I held my hand out and it moved to my finger. Then I acquired it!> She looked up at him, her eyes grinning happily. She loved being able to morph. There were so many things she wanted to experience. She looked back down at the bird, then gently held her hand up. The robin looked around, then lift off into the air, flying to the trees. Jae knew better than to ask if she could keep it. It was a wild animal and she didn't know how to take care of it. She looked up at Tyrel. <Can we go flying? I wanna try it!> She hopped a little, excited.

Tyrelinn looked at Jae, how enthusiastic she was about wanting to fly. He couldn't say no. As the bird flew off he said, <Of course we can,> he said softly. He stepped back and focused his mind on the Stellar's jay. He sprouted feathers a much brighter shade of blue than his fur while he sprouted black ones on his head.

She giggled a little and started shifting forms. She slowly shifted and changed into her new Robin morph. She hopped around a little, twittering and looking around. She pecked at a small worm on the ground and swallowed it, chirping. She fluttered up onto a branch and she looked down at Tyrel, waiting for him to join her. She sang happily, then lift off into the air, flying high with a happy song.
