A peaceful day in the forest. Singing birds, babbling brooks, young animals at play. Until, suddenly, a ship came screaming from the sky, crashing into the babbling brook. The hatch opened slowly and a young female Andalite stumbled out, falling flat on her face. She lift her stalk eyes and looked around before letting out a thought sound that could only be described as a giggle. She rolled and put her legs under her, standing up so she ould go exploring. But after a moment, she paused, memories coming back. Her happy demeanor faded as she remembered watching her mother and father die, slaughtered by Hork Bajir Controllers. She made a small whine and her stalk eyes drooped sadly. She sniffed a little and rubbed her eye as tears welled up in her eyes. She looked up with her stalk eyes as she heard someone approaching. She lift her head as she saw an Andalite coming near. He had one stalk eye and strange fur coloring. She also noticed his tail blade seemed to be black, but her interest didn't stop her tears. Her parents were dead. She was alone.

Tyrelinn was walking through the forest, feeding and thinking. His mind wandered back to meeting Tinem and Michelle the day before. His mind wandered farther, reaching a place Tyrelinn didn't want it to.
Eighteen years ago, Rabnak, the love of Tyrelinn's life, disappeared. She was assumed dead, since they never found the body. Maybe losing Rabby had made him colder, harsher, and darker but one couldn't be sure. But, somewhere in the back of his mind, he still had hope.
He didn't notice the ship crash into the brook. He was too deep in his thoughts. But the whine caught his attention, snapping him out of it. His stalk eye jerked up to see a young Andalite girl. A child. As he made his way over to her, he noticed evidence of the crash.
He knelt down in front of the weeping child, gently placing his hand under her chin and lifting her head to look at her. His look showed compassion as his stalk eye constantly scanned the area. <What's wrong, little one?> he asked softly.

She took a shaky breath as he lift her chin, tears rolling down her cheeks. <Mommy and daddy... they're dead... I'm alone.> Agony showed in her eyes. She didn't know how to live without her parents. She couldn't even morph yet, they hadn't gotten the chance to give her the ability. She sniffed a little, then leaned up and wrapped her arms around his neck. She didn't know who he was, but she needed some kind of comfort and he was the only one around.

Tyrelinn was pained when she told him her parents were dead, leaving her all alone. He was surprised when she threw her arms around his neck. He gently put his arms around her and spoke softly.
<I, too, was left alone here on Earth,> he said, not going into detail about what had happened some 20 years ago. <Only, I was much older.> He leaned back to look her in the eyes. <You'll be okay. You're not alone anymore. My name is Tyrelinn-Malenor-Gorith.> He felt truly bad for this young child. So young, so innocent, yet all alone...

She looked up at him as he held her and she leaned into him as he told her he was left alone too. She closed her eyes and curled up beside him. <It was so scary.... Hork Bajir just ran into our house and cut daddy to pieces. Mommy put me in there and they got her when it took off. I miss her so much!> She buried her head in his shoulder as she trembled.

Tyrelinn held her closely as she trembled. <It hurts, I know. I never knew my Mom. She.....died when I was born. And...my father didn't care for me......> His voice trailed off.
<But, I'm here for you. What's your name?>

She looked up at him, then lowered her head. <J-Jaealimi Vegath Iroth. Can... can you take me away from here? I don't like this place now...> She looked back at the crashed pod with her stalk eyes. She wanted to get away from the crash site. She didn't care where he took her, she just wanted away.

<Okay, Jaealimi,> he whispered, taking her hand and starting to walk with her. He held her hand, sort of knowing the pain she was feeling. It was something no one, especially not a child should go through.
<I'm not sure where to go...we can walk a while, or if you need to rest, my scoop isn't far from here.>

She walked slowly as he held her hand and looked up at him as he mentioned his scoop. She looked down, then back up at him. <Can we go running somewhere? I like running.> She looked around with her stalk eyes and looked back up at him, hoping he would say yes. She really liked stretching her legs, tasting the grass. It was her idea of freedom.

Tyrelinn looked down at her and smiled when she asked if they could go running. He couldn't remember the last time he had run just for the fun of it. It had been years, he knew. Stressful times had just piled up on him. He could use a run.
His eyes softened as he looked at her. <Of course we can. I used to enjoy running as well, but it's been a loooooooong time....> He said, his voice trailing off.

Her eyes lit up with a smile as he said they could go running. She looked ahead, then took off at a gallop, giggling as she splashed through the water. She leaped over a big rock and continued on, looking back with her stalk eyes to see if he was following. She loved racing her parents when they were back home. She was already starting to think of Tyrel as a new father. He was kind and gentle, just like her father.

Tyrelinn started following when Jae took off, getting splashed a little when she ran through the water. He lept, clearing the rock as well, but stopped for a second, wondering how foolish it looked for an Andalite his age to be acting this way. He looked at Jae, and shook off that feeling, taking off in a gallop again, not too far behind...

She laughed as he followed her and she scooped up some water with her tail, splashing him as he followed. She liked water, it felt so nice when it soaked into her fur. As she ran, she came upon a pond, big enough for her to swim in. She giggled and leaped into the water, submerging for a moment before surfacing and starting to swim. She looked up at Tyrel, smiling. <Why do you only have one stalk eye?>

Tyrelinn smiled when she resurfaced and started swimming. He slowed, and stopped at the edge of the lake, watching her swim, something Tyrelinn never really liked doing. He was somwhat surprised when she asked about his eye. He hadn't been around children in a while and sort of forgot that they tend to ask questions.
<Well,> he said, thinking of how to put it. <I...lost it in a fight. A long time ago...> he said, his voice trailing off as he remembered the "good old days..."

<Why didn't it grow back when you morphed?> She swam a bit closer to shore, drinking some water as she went. She was fascinated by him, mostly by his differences, especially the black tail blade. She wanted to know all about him, especially now that she was starting to think of him as father. By now, he wouldn't be able to get rid of her even if he wanted to.
